In this context, the main challenge remains to introduce complex flow field geometries tailored for a specific electrode microstructure and to implement them in flow batteries. In vanadium redox flow batteries, the flow field geometry plays a dramatic role on the distribution of the electrolyte and its design results from the tradeoff between high battery performance and low pressure drops.
